WALMART RECALLS GROUND BEEF AND BURGERS DUE TO CONNECTION WITH FATAL E. COLI CONTAMINATION

WASHINGTON— Approximately 16,000 pounds of ground beef have been recalled amid concerns of contamination with a potent strain of E. coli, officials announced Monday.

The raw meat, supplied to Walmart by Cargill Meat Solutions, a Pennsylvania-based company with nationwide distribution, has prompted a food safety alert from authorities.

The concern arises from the possibility that some of the affected products might be stored in consumers' refrigerators or freezers. Notably, the packaging does not bear the name "Cargill" but rather the label "All Natural." These products, produced between April 26 and April 27, can be identified by the establishment number "EST.86P," according to a recall notice issued by the USDA-Food Safety Inspection Service.

Cargill reported the issue to authorities after discovering that "previously segregated product had been inadvertently utilized in the production of ground beef," the notice said.

Consumers who have purchased these products are strongly advised against consumption. Instead, they are urged to discard the items or return them to the place of purchase.
