WALMART CONSIDERS CLOSING ALL SELF-CHECKOUTS

Walmart is contemplating the elimination of self-checkout systems, a move that comes just as customers have grown accustomed to scanning their own items like laundry detergent and orange juice. The retail giant is currently conducting tests of this concept in Canada, with a primary focus on reducing incidents of missing items. If the trial proves successful in curbing losses, Walmart could potentially phase out self-checkout machines across all their locations.

According to Walmart's estimates, they incur a substantial loss of $22 billion annually due to unintentional mistakes made by honest self-checkout users or shoppers who conveniently "forget" to scan certain items.
