THE BEST STATES FOR TEACHERS
Matt Case - September 19th
Teachers, crucial to the education system, often find their compensation lacking in reflection of their value. A recent report by WalletHub has ranked the U.S. states, including Washington, D.C., based on factors indicative of teacher-friendliness.
The report divided the indicators into two categories: opportunity & competition and academic & work environment. Factors evaluated include starting salaries, teacher pensions, student-teacher ratios, and projected turnover.
Virginia emerged as 2023's top state for teachers, leading in opportunity and competition, and placing 11th in academic and work environment. Delaware, while ranking 16th overall, took the lead in the academic and work environment category.
Contrastingly, New Hampshire settled at the bottom, with low scores in opportunity, competition, and academic work environment.
