WestJet to Charge for Reclining Seats on Renovated Planes

Passengers flying with WestJet may soon have to pay extra for a little comfort.

The airline is phasing out reclining seats in standard economy on its newly renovated aircraft — meaning only upgraded seats will lean back. WestJet, which operates in 19 U.S. states, says 43 planes will be redesigned as part of the overhaul.

The airline claims the move will help travelers “preserve their personal space,” though many passengers aren’t exactly applauding the change. In other words, if you wanna recline, you’ll have to pay to lean back.
