NASA SUPERCOMPUTER PREDICTS THE END OF THE WORLD
NASA Supercomputer Simulates Earth’s Distant Demise
WASHINGTON — A NASA supercomputer has modeled the distant future of Earth — and it doesn’t look good, at least for life a million years from now.
Working with researchers at Japan’s Toho University, NASA scientists ran 400,000 simulations to estimate when the planet could become completely unlivable. The data suggests that Earth will reach that point around the year 1,000,002,021.
The findings indicate that rising solar radiation and long-term atmospheric changes will ultimately make conditions intolerable for life. The good news? Humanity has nothing to worry about anytime soon — not this generation, or many thousands after it.
