LONDON - A recent Department for Education study has highlighted the jobs most vulnerable to automation by robots, signaling a potential shift in the job landscape. White-collar professions, notably in finance and consultancy, face the highest risk of AI replacement. Management consultants, financial managers, accountants, and psychologists top the list, according to the study's "AI Occupational Exposure" score.

Conversely, the study suggests that roles such as sports players, roofers, and steel erectors are least likely to be automated, largely due to the technical and unpredictable nature of these jobs.

Which jobs are most likely to be replaced by AI?
Risk Ranking (out of 365)   Job title
1   Management Consultants and business analysts
      Financial Managers and directors
      Chartered and certified accountants
      Psychologists
      Purchasing managers and directors
      Actuaries, economists and statisticians
Business and financial project management professionals
Finance and investment analysts and advisers
      Legal professionals n.e.c.
Business and related associate professionals n.e.c.

In a separate assessment focusing on Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, telephone salespersons, psychologists, and legal professionals emerge as the most vulnerable. The clergy, surprisingly, also ranks high on this list.

The study's findings suggest a need for the education system and employers to adapt, ensuring the workforce is equipped with skills relevant in an AI-dominated future. As the first AI-negotiated contract was recently signed, the implications of these advancements are already taking shape, reshaping perceptions of job security and the future of work in the age of AI.
