JAKE OWEN COMMEMORATES SOBRIETY: "LIFE WITHOUT ALCOHOL IS INFINITELY IMPROVED"

    - Matt Case

Renowned for his prowess in delivering spirited drinking anthems, such as his latest single "On the Boat Again," which exalts the joys of leisurely moments on water accompanied by "cold beer with my friends," Jake Owen has, in his own life, embraced a significant milestone of almost two years of sobriety.

In a series of Instagram Stories shared on Monday (Aug. 7), the singer commemorated this achievement and elucidated the motivations behind his decision to forgo alcohol. While he clarifies that he does not label himself as an alcoholic, Owen attests to the substantial improvements in his overall well-being resulting from his alcohol-free lifestyle.

Reflecting on his journey, Owen expressed, "689 days ago, I made a decision. I've stuck to it, and I'm really proud of myself." He candidly acknowledged past behavior, stating, "I was not at a point where I had a drinking problem, I was just being an a--hole and being a person I didn't want to be."

Owen further revealed, "Trust me, there's prob someone reading this that I affected in my days of being an idiot and I can never take that back...I said things I shouldn't, as well as did things I would never do sober. I had to own up to those instances and the ONLY thing I could do was be a better person going forward."
