FALL CITY, Wash. — A cougar attack on a group of five cyclists on a trail northeast of Fall City, about 25 miles east of Seattle, sent one woman to the hospital Saturday afternoon, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The attack occurred around 12:50 p.m. local time as the bikers navigated a trail. Upon arrival at the scene, wildlife officers euthanized a subadult cougar. Eyewitness accounts suggest the presence of a second cougar, though it remains at large, officials said.

The department refrained from releasing the identity of the hospitalized woman but confirmed she is in stable condition. There was no immediate information on whether the other four cyclists sustained injuries
