CHURCHES WELCOME AI JESUS
Matt Case - November 14th, 2025
Churches across the United States are embracing a new kind of ministry: artificial intelligence. A wave of AI-powered apps is sweeping through congregations, offering tools that let users feel as if they’re chatting directly with Jesus, an angel, or some form of divine presence.
Some apps go further, personalizing prayers, simulating confessionals, and offering spiritual guidance on life’s heaviest decisions — all delivered in seconds through a smartphone screen. For church leaders, the move is billed as an effort to stay “relevant” and connected to younger generations who live inside their devices.
But critics aren’t staying quiet. They’re raising sharp questions about who — or what — is guiding the flock when the shepherd is an algorithm. Without a human pastor, skeptics warn, faith risks losing its most essential ingredient: real connection.
