Olympia Chamber Orchestra hosts winners of the Olympia Music Teachers Association piano competition Gabriel Ong and Michael Zhao, who will recap their winning performances. Both students of Brooke Beecher, Gabriel Ong will play the first movement of Shostakovich's Second Piano Concerto, op 102, and Michael Zhao will play the 3rd movement (Rondo) of Beethoven's First Piano Concerto, op. 15.
Nickolas Carlson will conduct Carl Maria von Weber’s “Invitation to the Dance” and Weber’s Symphony No. 1 in C Op. 19, Dances from “Les Indes Galantes” (The Amorous Indies) by Jean-Phillipe Rameau, Johann Strauss’s “Thunder and Lightning” Polka, and Brahm’s “5th Hungarian Dance” conducted by Colleen Ferris. OCO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Tickets are available at www.olympiachamberorchestra.org and at the door.
